Cannon has two child development centers. The main center, 202 Olympic Blvd, is located near the exchange and commissary. The Chavez Center is located across from Allsups on Ranchvale Road.
The centers care for a total of 130 children six weeks to five years of age. The CDCs are currently accredited by NAEYC.
All activities are geared to the individual needs of each child. Children are served nutritious and appealing meals for breakfast, lunch and snacks.
The on base center offers the Give Parents a Break Program sponsored by the AF Aid Society. This program offers free care to spouses of deployed members and families experiencing stress or hardship due to the overwhelming responsibility of parenting.
Need a sitter for the weekend or evening? Stop by the CDC's or Youth Center for a copy of the teen babysitter roster. These teens have been through the Babysitters course which trains them in infant CPR and First Aide.
Extended Duty Child Care can assist families in obtaining high-quality child care from licensed or affiliated family child care providers. Care is available in licensed Family Child Care homes and is offered free to all parents. Extended duty is authorized when parents have extended duty hours (Nights and weekends) for exercises or special assignments. Jim Hernandez, Family Child Care Coordinator, will make arrangements with a
provider based on the need of the family. Parents must complete the parent form and child registration form (attached) prior to using care. Please call Mr. Hernandez at 784-6560 for more information.

Public release statement
Cannon Family Child Care, Child Development Centers and the Youth Center are required by New Mexico to make a public release statement to the local media regarding free and reduced meals availability to the children enrolled in any of the family child care programs. Meals include breakfast, lunch and dinners during exercises.
All children in attendance will be offered the same meals with no physical segregation of, or other discriminatory action against any child because of race, color, age, national origin, sex or disability.
If you feel you have been discriminated against, write immediately to: USDA, Director, Office of Civil Rights, Room 326-W, Whitten Building, 1400 Independence Ave., SW, Washington, D.C. 20250-9410 or call (202) 720-5964 (voice and TDD). Children who are members of FDPIR food distribution program in Indian reservation or food stamp households are automatically eligible to receive free meal benefits.
Family Child Care Providers are reimbursed for meals they serve children enrolled in their daycare and must serve meals that qualify under provisions. Child Development Centers and Youth Center offer free meals and snacks to the children who are enrolled in these programs. This is to ensure the children receive good, daily nutrition to help them grow both physically and mentally. For more information, call the Family Child Care office at 784-6560 or CDC’s call 784-2704/784-6259. The Youth Center number is 784-2747.
